Our Mission

Neenah Lutheran School exists to develop and strengthen discipleship in young people and their families through a quality, Christian-centered curriculum that is based on the inspired Word of God. This focus prepares students to excel in their continuing education and life.

 Our Curriculum

Neenah Lutheran School offers a comprehensive and varied curriculum to prepare students for the rigors of high school, college and the workplace. All subjects are taught from a Christian perspective to educate the whole child: academically, socially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Our rich curriculum is designed with flexibility to meet the needs of each student as it fosters exploration, critical thinking, problem solving, and sound study habits. As a community of learners, students are given opportunities to collaborate and explore. The ultimate goal is to cultivate and maximize each student’s unique talents and abilities.

In elementary and middle school, our academic program is focused on mastering the core classes of math, grammar, literature, science, and history. The schedule of classes is departmentalized and also includes enrichment instruction in art, music, physical education, foreign language, and technology.  Bible History, Worship, and Christian Doctrine

No matter what classroom you visit, each one starts each morning and afternoon with God’s Word. Every Wednesday morning, our campuses gather for worship in song and study of God’s Word.

ELEMENTARY:

1 Timothy 3:16 tells us, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness.”

While the Bible was written long before any of us were alive, its’ historical accounts and lessons are as relevant as ever. As our elementary students study Bible history, they see how scripture connects to all of our lives and provides answers to our questions and challenges. Most importantly, however, our students learn about our Savior Jesus and how he washed away our sins by his death on the cross.

MIDDLE SCHOOL:

While our middle school students have completed their elementary level study of Bible history, they know that studying scripture is a lifelong process. Through careful study of scripture, we prepare our students for lives of Christian service.

Our teachers guide them through topical studies of Scripture that help them answer relevant questions about the world around them with a Biblical perspective.

Our pastors (From Martin Luther and Trinity Churches) partner with us to take our students even deeper into scripture through studies in Christian Doctrine and Luther’s Catechism.

Technology

At Neenah Lutheran, technology is a tool to enhance the learning of our core subjects. In addition, we teach our students how to be Christian citizens in a digital world, using it as another way to show our faith.

ELEMENTARY:

With a 1-1 student to Chromebook ratio, our 3rd-5th grade students are introduced to four main areas of focus;

  • Keyboarding: Students begin learning correct typing form, and where all of the keys are. Once, they’ve mastered form, they work to improve their speed.

  • Digital Citizenship: Students engage in small & large group discussions on topics such as internet safety, showing kindness to others, and standing up others.

  • Programming: Students learn draw-coding and are introduced to block-coding, all through the use of Sphero robots.

  • Google Apps: Students learn basic Word processing skills and are introduced to slide decks.

MIDDLE SCHOOL:

Our 6th-8th grade students take their 1-1 Chromebooks to the next level as they build and expand off of the tools they were introduced to in middle school. While these students continue to work towards mastery of typing and Google apps and keyboarding, they also have the opportunity to follow their interests in the extensive area of technology. If you visited our upper grade classrooms, you would likely see students working on their personally selected projects like:

  • Building websites and other graphic design projects.

  • Learning block code and Javascript to program Spheros in order to navigate mazes.

  • Developing video games to challenge their peers.

  • Creating and writing their own music.

  • Writing and illustrating books to read to younger students.

  • Collaborating with peers and parents to create the school yearbook.

 Science and Engineering

At Neenah Lutheran School, every student is a scientist and engineer, whether they know it or not!

Our school uses the FOSS Next Generation Program to teach our students the concepts and practices necessary to go into the STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math). Students are immersed in a hands-on, inquiry based approach that fosters a love of learning and strong critical thinking skills. We utilize the Next Generation Science Standards to help coordinate our approach to scientific learning.

ELEMENTARY:

Our young scientists and engineers develop strong skills in critical thinking, problem solving, observation, and discovery as they study God’s creation. In 3rd-5th grade, here are just a few of the topics your student will engage in:

  • Students conduct controlled experiments as they analyze environmental conditions that seeds and brine shrimp need to thrive in their environment.

  • Students work with magnets, wheel-and-axle systems, and rotating tops to enter the engineering design process.

  • Students experiment with stream tables to determine the impact of changing variables, like slope or the amount of water.

MIDDLE SCHOOL:

Having developed strong foundational skills in science, engineering, and inquiry based learning, our middle school students continue to grow in their understanding of the world around them. In 6th-8th grade, here are just a few of the topics your student will engage in:

  • Students create mini-ecosystems, including aquariums and terrariums, to observe the interdependence of organisms in an ecosystem.

  • Students develop “sound-proof" rooms after researching sound engineering practices.

  • Students explore how chemical reactions create new substances by combining carbon dioxide and lime water and analyzing the products.
